Jennifer Baney

Jennifer has been working in the mental health field since 2005, practicing in a variety of settings and with diverse populations including pediatric work, drug and alcohol counseling, and court-ordered treatments.  She has collaborated with law enforcement across several facets including through her therapeutic work at a local Children’s Advocacy Center as well as client threat assessment team meetings.  

Jennifer opened Songbird Counseling Services in 2021 as a private practice offering trauma-informed approaches including Art Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).  Jennifer is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Art Therapist, and trained EMDR clinician.  She volunteers as chairperson for the Behavioral Health Task Force for Healthy Adams County with focuses on improving community access to care and increasing suicide awareness and prevention outreach.

Since 2023, Jennifer has been offering presentations regarding the mental health impacts of law enforcement experiences.  Through transparentauthentic, and informed trainings, Jennifer effectively initiates conversations with officers regarding their mental wellness and emotional health.

In 2025, Jennifer joined a team of researchers as a content consultant to continue to explore the mental health and well-being of law enforcement officers and also expanded her mental health trainings to various departments and counties.  She has announced her first retreats to support first responder spouses for early 2026.

Jennifer has been married to her law enforcement husband since 2011, and they have two children.
